The 44th president of the United States is a basketball junkie, and everyone knows it. Barack Obama, the first African-American man to become the president of the most powerful country in the world loves hoops.

A seldom-used player back in high school, Obama nevertheless maintained his love for the game, and even as he grew older, he kept on playing. During the campaign, Obama played pick-up ball in stops in North Carolina, Indiana, and other places across the country. He was also seen filling out his brackets for the NCAA’s March Madness.
Even NBA players like Chris Duhon (of the New York Knicks) who has played pick-up ball with Obama knows that the new president’s got game. A lefty, Obama can be seen dishing out no-look passes to his teammates, finding them at the right spots as well as shooting from deep.
Currently, the White House only has a half court, so David Stern and the NBA have offered to help set-up an indoor full court for the new president. The owner of the Washington Wizards also offered use of his team’s home court, the Verizon Center.
With the help of the new most powerful man in the world, basketball hopefully will become more popular than ever before.

Education should be a right that all citizens must have access to, not just a privilege for those who can pay for it. That’s what has been said over and over and over again throughout the years. Sadly though, that is not the case.
It’s not that not all people have access to education. That’s what the public education system is for. The problem right now is people’s access to quality education.
Yes, in most cases, how a student performs in class largely depends on how good or how diligent he or she is. However, it must not be forgotten that a lot also depends on the teachers, and the facilities of the schools that the students go to.
And that’s just about basic education. What about college? As it is, trying to get a kid through college is so expensive, that some parents leverage their future just so their child can finish school and get a degree.
There could be hope though. One of Barack Obama’s major campaign promises was about college for all. In his plan, deserving students get to go to a university of their choice for free in exchange for community service. It could be a viable plan, as long as the students themselves are willing to support it.
Hopefully, this plan comes into fruition, for the sake of the future of America’s future leaders.
